Planning Commission to take up developments

MORE: Read more news from Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg’s Planning Commission will hold public hearings April 9 on several proposed city developments:

  • The Silver Cos. is asking for a special-use permit for an 80-bed assisted-living facility in Fredericksburg’s Celebrate Virginia South development. The Poet’s Walk facility is proposed across Gordon W. Shelton Boulevard from the Virginia Credit Union branch.
  • Mike Adams and Jon Van Zandt are seeking a special exception that would allow them to build a total of eight homes near the intersection of Dunmore and Charles streets, an area near the downtown train station and central business district.
  • George and Roxanna Snead are seeking a special-use permit that would allow agritourism on their 28-acre Braehead Farm property in the Battlefield Industrial Park. The Sneads received a temporary permit last year to run their operation — which includes pick-your-own strawberries, birthday parties and a play area — and are now seeking a permanent one.
  • Douglas F. Brown, on behalf of Bragg Hill Corp., is requesting a rezoning on a 34.1-acre property off Fall Hill Avenue in the 1100 block of Wicklow Drive to allow a 99-unit townhouse development.
