The third phase of Amelia Square, a mixed-use development in downtown Fredericksburg, is expected to begin this week.

Five four-story townhomes, all of which have been sold, will be built along Amelia Street. Eight Amelia Square townhouses have already been fully or mostly completed, and six more three-story units are planned along the interior of the development.

Commercial development is proposed along the William Street side of the project. Representatives for project developer the Silver Cos. have been working to bring a brewhouse to the site that would have a couple of hundred beers on the menu.

Amelia Square is adjacent to the William Street Executive Building, which local developer Tom Wack plans to buy from The Free Lance-Star Publishing Co. and turn into another mixed-use development with 50 residential condominiums, underground parking and an outdoor courtyard lined with restaurants, boutique stores and professional offices.
