Silver proposing residential development in Fredericksburg

The Silver Cos. is proposing a residential community with six single-family homes and 54 townhouses just south of the company’s Cowan Crossings commercial project in Fredericksburg.

The 11 acres where the community would be built are between U.S. 1 and Keeneland Road, and Cowan Boulevard and State Route 3.

The single-family homes would be built off Keeneland Road, and the townhouse entrance would be off U.S. 1.

Fredericksburg planning officials are now reviewing and taking comments on the plan, which will at some point be before the Fredericksburg Planning Commission and City Council.

Silver’s Cowan Crossings commercial project at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Cowan Boulevard will include a First Citizens Bank branch, a CVS, a Burger King and other commercial users that are still being recruited.

Silver has been proposing more residential projects of late as the housing market improves. The company is also working on plans for a 35-home residential development off Harrison Road and a 249-home subdivision near the Chancellorsville battlefield in Spotsylvania.
