Tricord asking for rezoning on Courthouse Road

Tricord Inc. is asking Stafford County to rezone about 30 acres it owns along Courthouse Road to allow for a subdivision with 56 single-family homes.

Tricord is calling the project the second section of Liberty Knolls. The builder is asking Stafford to change the zoning from A-1 to R-2.

The first section of Liberty Knolls is across Courthouse Road from Colonial Forge High School. Jarrell Properties Inc. developed the 99-lot project, and Ryan Homes is building the houses. Tricord’s second section is just to the west on Courthouse Road.

Tricord principal Mike Jones said it made sense to call the project the second section of Liberty Knolls even though his company isn’t developing the first section. He said the two communities will be connected by roads.

Jones said plans for the second section call for a right-in, right-out entrance and exit on Courthouse Road. Residents could go through the first section of Liberty Knolls for a stoplight intersection onto Courthouse.

Liberty Knolls is one of several new residential developments under way along Courthouse Road, and more are planned. It’s near two other larger projects: Augustine Homes’ Colonial Forge and Newland Communities’ Embrey Mill.
