Uncle B’s opening in downtown Fredericksburg

A restaurant offering customers a “soul experience” will open soon in the former TruLuv’s space at 1101 Sophia St. in downtown Fredericksburg.

Bernard Northam hopes to open Uncle B’s Riverside Restaurant by Feb. 14. He’s now renovating the 5,500-square-foot space, which includes a patio overlooking the Rappahannock River.

Northam ran Uncle B’s Soulfood Restaurant at 260 Warrenton Road in Stafford County for the past five years. That location closed Jan. 1, allowing Northam to focus on renovating the Sophia Street space.

Northam said his restaurant will serve lunch and dinner daily and be open for weekend brunch. Among his offerings will be collard greens, boneless pork chops, chicken, ribs, chitlins and pigs’ feet.
