Meadows Farms Golf Course coming up for sale

The Meadows Farms Golf Course in Locust Grove will soon be on the market.

Meadows Farms Inc., which owns the 27-hole golf course, plans to put the course up for sale by the end of the year, said company President Jay Meadows. Marcus & Millichap will be the listing broker.

Meadows said the asking price for the 265-acre golf course has not been finalized. He anticipates that the buyer will continue to run it as a golf course. Several prospects have already expressed interest.

Meadows Farms founder Bill “Farmer” Meadows helped design the course, which opened in 1993. The course has a number of signature features, including an 841-yard, par-six hole that is billed as the longest in the U.S.

Jay Meadows said it wasn’t an easy decision to put the course up for sale, but said “it’s just the right time for our family.” Meadows Farms Inc. will continue to operate its garden center stores and landscaping division.
