Sheetz proposed in North Stafford

MORE: Read more Stafford County news

Sheetz is proposing a 6,558-square-foot convenience store and seven-pump fueling station at the southeast corner of Garrisonville and Furnace roads in North Stafford.

A Silver Cos. affiliate is asking Stafford officials for a proffer amendment and conditional use permit that would allow the project. The county’s planning department will lead a development review meeting on the matter Thursday afternoon.

A right-in, right-out access point from Garrisonville Road and another entrance from Furnace Road are proposed.

Sheetz has gotten increasingly active in the Fredericksburg area of late. The Altoona, Pa.-based company plans to open a store and fueling station next month on Lafayette Boulevard in Spotsylvania County, and plans two additional Spotsylvania locations at the northeast corner of U.S. 1 and Massaponax Church Road, and the southeast corner of U.S. 17 and Hospital Boulevard near the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

Sheetz already operates several area stores, including ones in Fredericksburg and King George, Stafford and Orange counties.
