The Fredericksburg Fairgrounds will for the first time this year host a festival focused on craft beers.

The Fredericksburg Brewfest is set for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at the fairgrounds off State Route 2/17 in the city.

There will be more than 40 beers to sample at the event, including products from Starr Hill, Sierra Nevada, Devil’s Backbone, Abita, New Belgium Brewing, the Blue & Gray Brewing Co. and many others. A home-brew contest is planned.

The A. Smith Bowman Distillery and Mattaponi Winery will also have whiskey and wine samples at the event. There will be food and live music.

Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the gate, which includes a commemorative tasting glass. Children under 16 are free, and tickets for designated drivers cost $10.
