Charlottesville-based Relay Foods kicked off its local grocery delivery service Monday afternoon at Hurkamp Park in downtown Fredericksburg.

Local customers can now place their orders through the Relay Foods website and pick up their groceries every Monday and Thursday between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Hurkamp. Additional pickup days may be added later based on demand.

Relay Foods focuses on natural, organic and locally sourced foods, but the company also offers a full array of products found at traditional bricks-and-mortar grocery stores. Fredericksburg will be serviced from Relay Foods’ 8,000-square-foot Richmond fulfillment center.

The privately held company has grown quickly since its 2008 founding in Charlottesville. Its Virginia markets now include Staunton, Lynchburg, Fredericksburg, Charlottesville, Richmond and Williamsburg, and it’s also in Baltimore, Washington and Annapolis.
