Three area Dunkin’ Donuts stores closed

These signs are on the doors at the three local Dunkin’ Donuts stores that recently closed.

Three Fredericksburg-area Dunkin’ Donuts locations have closed.

The stores at 2229 Plank Road in Fredericksburg as well as the ones at 3544 Plank Road and 2601 Salem Church Road in Spotsylvania County all temporarily closed within the past few days.

“Sorry for the inconvenience,” read signs on the doors of the three locations. “This location is temporarily closed. We hope to re-open soon.”

The signs direct customers to the Dunkin’ Donuts location at 305 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford. Another area Dunkin’ Donuts will be built soon at at 551 Warrenton Road in Stafford.

According to Richmond BizSense, the closures are related to a legal battle between the franchisee of the three Fredericksburg-area stores and the parent company. Several Richmond-area locations have also closed.

Massachusetts-based Dunkin’ Donuts claimed the stores had fallen behind on lease payments and franchise fees, according to the article.
