Local Realtor finalist for “30 Under 30″ contest

A Fredericksburg-area Realtor is among 50 finalists for an annual competition put on by the National Association of Realtors to honor agents under the age of 30.
Alex Belcher, 26, will be among the 50 finalists the NAR announces Friday. Thirty agents will be selected from the final 50 to be featured in the NAR’s “30 Under 30″ feature in Realtor Magazine.
Belcher is the only finalist from Virginia. The son of longtime local agents Buzz and Kathy Belcher, Alex Belcher has been a Realtor for MacDoc Realty since May 2010. MacDoc co-owner Jeremy McCommons called him “a great young man, with strong work ethic and drive.”
The NAR received 375 applications for the award this year, said Stacey Moncrieff, who helps oversee the program. NAR staffers and the editors of Realtor Magazine narrowed it down to the final 50 based on the applicants’ production, innovation, community service, job commitment and leadership potential.
A weeklong voting process will begin Friday through the Realtor magazine’s website. The person who receives the most votes will be named as one of the top 30, and the NAR will select the remaining 29. The winners will be announced April 2.
