Next Amelia Square units on the horizon

Construction is under way on the first four homes at Amelia Square, and the next four units might start sometime pretty soon.

The start of construction on the next four townhouses at the Amelia Square development in downtown Fredericksburg might not be far away.

The next four homes are planned along Winchester Street on the William Street side of the units now under construction. The two end units are sold, and project Realtor Heather Hagerman hopes to have one of the middle units under contract this week.

The sale of the third unit will trigger the process of obtaining building permits for the four-story homes. Hagerman anticipates having the last of the four units sold before it’s under roof. The second bank of homes will be a mirror image of the ones now under construction.

Plans for the Silver Cos. development eventually call for 20 townhouses, six of which will be three stories and the remainder four stories. The remaining 12 units will be in two banks of six homes that are parallel to Amelia and William streets, with a courtyard in the middle. Community entrances will be on Amelia and Winchester streets. There will be brick sidewalks and gas lamps around the complex.

Plans are also in the works for a 10,000-square-foot commercial building that fronts William Street. Realtors working on the project are now courting possible tenants for that space.
