Local radio station returning to news/talk format

Centennial Broadcasting’s local WFVA-AM 1230 radio station will return to its news/talk format Monday.

The station will feature talk-radio hosts including Don Imus, Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee, Dennis Miller, Mark Levin and Michael Savage, as well as local news and public affairs programming.

That was the station’s format until April 2011, when it switched to adult standards music. The company said in a news release that listener feedback led to the change back to the previous format. Ted Schubel will continue as the station’s news director and will host a one-hour show, “Town Talk with Ted,” on weekdays starting at 8 a.m. that features local figures and issues.

The Star Radio Group, which is a division of The Free Lance-Star Publishing Co., also airs conservative talk radio shows including those hosted by Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity on News Sports Talk 1350 AM and 96.5 FM. Those stations also feature ESPN programming, including the popular ”Mike & Mike in the Morning,” as well as Dave Ramsey’s personal finance show.
