Princess Anne corridor to be examined

A Staunton-based architecture firm will offer suggestions on how to improve the look of Fredericksburg’s Princess Anne Street corridor.

Frazier Associates will assess the stretch of Princess Anne between U.S. 1 and Fauquier Street and offer specific recommendations for two or three properties. Fredericksburg’s Economic Development Authority will pay for the assessment through a $7,900 grant approved Monday.

Frazier Associates conducted a similar study of the Caroline Street corridor last year, work that led to the EDA’s facade improvement program.

The individual properties that Frazier will study along the Princess Anne corridor have not yet been determined, but they will be before Frazier does the work in early January. They will likely be properties whose owners plan to participate in the EDA’s facade improvement program.

City economic development officials have long envisioned new development and an improved look along the Princess Anne corridor, which is the gateway into downtown from U.S. 1. Similar plans are in the works for the Lafayette Boulevard corridor.
