Rezoning applied for across from Cosner’s Corner
A pair of local businessmen have applied to rezone a five-acre parcel across U.S. 1 from Cosner’s Corner in Spotsylvania County.
Jay Jarrell and John Hetrick want to have the land at 10108 Jefferson Davis Highway rezoned from industrial to commercial. That would allow a potential user such as a fast-food restaurant or bank to develop a facility there.
The land is next to a Rite Aid store and near a Wawa station. Because of wetlands, just three-quarters of an acre would be developed. The maximum building size that would be allowed under the new zoning would be 18,600 square feet.
Jarrell said most of the companies that have inquired about the land have needed the commercial zoning to move forward. No deals are in place for now.
