Castiglia’s opens new bar area in downtown Fredericksburg
The latest addition to Castiglia’s in downtown Fredericksburg is now complete.
An expanded bar area opened Tuesday afternoon at Luigi Castiglia’s popular restaurant at 324 William St. The eatery was closed Monday to make final preparations for the opening.
The new area, which replaces a smaller bar on the other side of Castiglia’s, is in the former location of a market called Bella Italia. Part of a wall that was dividing the space from the main restaurant area was taken down, allowing customers to walk from the bar to the restaurant. The new section, which includes two new bathrooms, will offer a tapas menu in addition to the full bar.
It’s the latest makeover for Castiglia’s. Last year Luigi Castiglia renovated the restaurant’s interior and added a wood-burning brick oven that cooks Neapolitan pizzas in front of customers. He is hoping to add a rooftop bar and balcony, and a large private dining area at the back of his building that would be accessed from the Charles Street side.
