EVB closes Bowling Green branch
Tappahannock-based EVB closed its Bowling Green bank branch Sept. 7.
According to the most recent FDIC Summary of Deposits report, about $16.2 million in customer deposits were held at the EVB branch at 202 N. Main St. in Bowling Green as of June 30, 2011. That was about 6 percent of the bank deposits in Caroline, trailing Union First Market Bank (73 percent), SunTrust Bank (12 percent) and StellarOne Bank (9 percent).
The next-closest EVB branch is in Ashland. EVB Senior Vice President Patricia Gallagher said the Bowling Green branch didn’t fit into the bank’s strategy in part because of its fairly significant distance from any other location.
