Business Notes, Sept. 24

Here are some odds and ends from the past week in the world of Fredericksburg-area business:

  • John F. Fick III, president of the Spotsylvania County-based J.F. Fick Inc. beverage distributor, has been elected to the Virginia Health Care Foundation Board of Trustees. Fick is also chairman of the Board of Directors of Mary Washington Healthcare.
  • Dennis Kelly, CEO of anti- and counterterrorism professional solutions firm A-T Solutions Inc., was recently honored as executive of the year in the aerospace and defense category at the American Business Awards this month in San Francisco. A-T Solutions has a large presence in Spotsylvania County’s Lee’s Hill Commercial Center.
  • Purvis Ford Lincoln on U.S. 1 near the Spotsylvania County-Fredericksburg line has started a “Christmas Countdown” new coat drive for the Salvation Army. The dealership hopes to collect at least 100 new coats before Christmas.
  • Chris Hawkins, owner of All American Mobility in Fredericksburg, has become a certified aging-in-place specialist. Hawkins traveled to New Jersey to take the three-day course for certification.
  • Fredericksburg-based dentist Dr. John W. Willhide received the Lifetime Achievement Award earlier this month from the Northern Virginia Dental Society. Willhide’s practice is called Heritage Dental.
  • Rich Brown, who owns locally based Accolade Security Network and served in the U.S. Marine Corps, will be a panelist at an upcoming symposium on hiring veterans that is sponsored by the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce.
