Demo work under way at Eagle Village

Workers demo vacant retail space to make way for the Eagle Village hotel.

Tear-down work began Wednesday on the vacant retail space between the Giant store and the main road running into Eagle Village to make way for a 93-room hotel.

The University of Mary Washington Foundation is building a 66,500-square-foot Hyatt Place hotel at the mixed-use complex off U.S. 1 in Fredericksburg. The project is expected to last about a year.
