Bowman Center seeing uptick in leasing activity

The Bowman Center is home to the A. Smith Bowman Distillery and a number of other office-, industrial- and retail-focused companies.

Leasing activity has picked up at Spotsylvania County’s Bowman Center over the past couple of months.

The center has attracted a number of new businesses of late, and several existing tenants have expanded, said Steve Schattgen, a commercial real estate broker for Coldwell Banker Commercial Carriage House Realty Inc. who is representing property owner The Bowman Cos.

The Bowman Center used to be home to a cellophane plant and continues to have many industrial companies. But its diverse mix of current and planned businesses also includes a brewery, a whiskey distillery, a cafe and bakery, a technology startup and a mortgage lender.

Schattgen said the Bowman Center, which is off State Route 2, doesn’t work for everyone, but it suits the needs for many companies at a low cost.

Schattgen said the following companies have signed leases at the Bowman Center in the past couple of months to expand, start anew or move spaces: Deedod Inc., Mason-Dixon Cafe & Baking Co., First National Bank home loans, Rappahannock Area Community Services Board, Convert Integrated Marketing, DoorMasters, Alpha Elite and Johnson Tax Service.
