The University of Mary Washington Foundation is partially finishing interior work on three retail spaces in the newer portion of its Eagle Village development in an effort to entice businesses looking to open quickly there.
One of the retail spaces being built out will be home to UMW’s IT service center for the next few years during on-campus renovations, said UMW Foundation CEO Jeff Rountree.
The other two spaces being built out with new floors, walls, ceilings, HVAC and bathrooms are available to prospective businesses. Rountree said previously built-out spaces have tended to lease faster.
Several of the other vacant retail spaces in the newer part of Eagle Village are being left unfinished for businesses that want to do their own buildouts.
Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer broker Virgil Nelson is now handling leasing efforts on the newer retail area of Eagle Village. Shawn Carrington had been doing so before recently leaving Thalhimer and joining the local leasing staff at The Rappaport Cos.
