High-tech home to be built for wounded vet in Spotsylvania

Fredericksburg-area homebuilder American Heritage Homes will construct a high-tech home for a quadruple-amputee military veteran at the Estates of Chancellorsville neighborhood off State Route 3 in Spotsylvania County.

The home will be constructed for Marine Corps Sgt. John Peck through a partnership between the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and Gary Sinise Foundation. Peck received the Purple Heart after sustaining a brain injury when his vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device in Iraq in 2008. He later lost all four limbs as a result of an IED explosion in Afghanistan in 2010.

Peck will be on hand during a contract-signing ceremony at noon Thursday at the Spotsylvania neighborhood. The home will have a state-of-the-art electronics system to help Peck live as independently as possible.

Below is a good video describing what the house will be like.
