Area hotels filling up for Historicon event
Fredericksburg-area hotels are filling up for an event next weekend at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center that is expected to be one of the biggest in the facility’s history.
Historicon, an annual convention for fans of historical miniature war-gaming, will be held July 19-22 at the Expo Center in Celebrate Virginia South. Event organizers are expecting about 3,000 attendees per day. The public is welcome to drop by and check it out.
Historicon 2013 will also be at the Expo Center. Historicon has traditionally been held in Pennsylvania but outgrew the facilities it had been using. Fredericksburg successfully competed for this year’s event against Baltimore and Hampton Roads. The event is expected to have a large local economic impact.
