Tenant coming to Wilson Building in downtown Fredericksburg

A long-established local business will lease the entire first-floor retail space of the Wilson Building at 915 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg.

The Card Cellar, which sells sports cards, collectibles, apparel, trophies and plaques, will occupy the roughly 9,500-square-foot retail space by Oct. 1, said building owner Joe Wilson. Bart Goldberg will move his Card Cellar business from the Four-Mile Fork area of Spotsylvania County, where it’s been for about two decades.

The Wilson Building was completed in 2008, and the retail space has remained vacant since. Wilson has put up decorations and displays during that time to prevent the building from looking empty while he searched for a tenant. He said many restaurants, tattoo parlors, fudge shops and other businesses have looked at the space during that time.

Wilson, who lives on the top floor of the building, said he’s happy to have attracted a long-established business. The Card Cellar will take the entire space at first, but Wilson said the business could end up occupying only the Caroline Street side if the space proves too big for its needs. In that case Wilson would turn the Sophia Street side into offices.
