Preliminary work begins on Amelia Square

Crews have begun preparing the Amelia Square site in downtown Fredericksburg for development.
The Silver Cos., which is developing Amelia Square, hopes to start site work in earnest soon after receiving the necessary approvals and permits from the city, possibly by the end of July.
Amelia Square — which is bordered by William, Winchester and Amelia streets and an alley behind Prince Edward Street — is scheduled to include 20 high-end townhouses. The first four homes, all of which are under contract or close to that stage, will be built when the project starts.
