Fredericksburg-area parents and grandparents have a new place to buy their baby gear.
A Babies”R”Us store is now open at 3101 Plank Road in Fredericksburg’s Central Park shopping center. It’s inside the Toys”R”Us store that has been at that location for many years.
Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us are under the same corporate umbrella. The company has been gradually opening side-by-side locations for the two brands throughout the U.S.
Renovation work at the 31,000-square-foot Fredericksburg facility began this spring and was recently completed. A grand opening is scheduled next weekend.
The baby gear is now on the right when customers enter, and the Toys”R”Us section is to the left. The store includes a crib display, a baby registry desk and restrooms with nursing stations.
Another baby superstore could be headed to Central Park as well. Plans submitted to Fredericksburg building officials indicate that a Buy Buy Baby store is planned next to a Christmas Tree Shops store at the roughly 76,000-square-foot former Shoppers Food & Pharmacy at 1320 Carl D. Silver Parkway. Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. owns both of the two retailers.
