Dollar General developing area stores

Discount retailer Dollar General has started construction on a freestanding store in Caroline County and is planning one in Stafford County.

The company recently began work on a 9,100-square-foot building at the corner of Ladysmith Road and Allen Street just west of U.S. 1 in Caroline.

Dollar General also recently submitted a rezoning request with Stafford planning officials that would allow it to build a freestanding store on a half-acre lot near its current store at the Woodlawn Village Shopping Center on Deacon Road in Stafford. The company’s current location is in a multi-tenant retail building at the Woodlawn center.

Many retailers choose to replace those “in-line” locations with freestanding stores that offer better visibility.
