Construction work is expected to start soon on the planned Barnes & Noble store in Fredericksburg.
Fredericksburg’s Building and Development Services Department has approved Barnes & Noble’s building plans for the 24,000-square-foot former Borders store at 1220 Carl D. Silver Parkway in Central Park. Building permits will be issued after Barnes & Noble submits required information on the contractors it will use for the job and gets a city business license.
The Barnes & Noble store is scheduled to open Nov. 7 following a roughly $1.9 million store buildout. It will have the retailer’s new modern concept with the Nook e-reader front and center as well as a cafe and large children’s area.
Earlier this year Fredericksburg City Council approved an incentive package for Barnes & Noble that could be worth up to $100,000 in tax rebates over 10 years if the company hits performance benchmarks.
