Business notes, May 31

Here are some recent business notes from around the Fredericksburg area.

  • Fredericksburg-area real estate firm MacDoc has started a division to manage entire residential communities through homeowners’ associations. It’s called MacDoc Community Management and will be based out of the firm’s Princess Anne Street office in Fredericksburg. New MacDoc staffer Tamela Makinda will run the division.
  • Local Edward Jones financial adviser Ben Maxwell and his assistant, Bridgette Zanella, recently won recognition for being the firm’s No. 1 client service provider in their region and in the top 25 percent of client service providers in the country. The designation was based on a survey in which random clients were asked to rank the service they received from their local Edward Jones office. Maxwell’s office is on Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania County.
  • Spotsylvania County-based Pittman Construction Inc. is now building out a Spice Rack Chocolates store at the Spotsylvania Towne Centre that is expected to open in August. It’s in the former Sbarro location near the JCPenney entrance.
  • R&R Seafood, a seafood takeout stand that was next to Paul’s Bakery on Lafayette Boulevard, has closed. We featured the business here.
