Auction scheduled for former King George industrial plant

The former home of a King George County company that made hollow-core concrete panels used in hotels, dormitories and apartment buildings will be auctioned April 24.

Mid-Atlantic Precast, which opened in 2009 in the King George Industrial Park, closed in January, said Nicole Thompson, the county’s economic development director.

Thompson hopes another company will purchase the industrially zoned property and put it to use. The land is assessed at $454,500, and the building at $1.89 million, she said.

The roughly 71,500-square-foot plant sits on 18.2 acres at 11023 Dennis W. Kerns Parkway off State Route 3. The property is serviced by public water, sewer and natural gas.

Motley’s Auction and Realty Group is handling the 2 p.m. on-site auction, which also has an online component. The plant’s equipment will also be sold. A property tour is scheduled for April 17. Click here for auction details.
