A local law firm is planning to develop a small office park along Lafayette Boulevard near Paul’s Bakery in Fredericksburg.

John Franklin and Thomas Woehrle since 2010 have owned the three lots at 2116, 2118 and 2120 Lafayette Blvd. Their Woehrle & Franklin law firm is in a 2,700-square-foot house at 2120 Lafayette. The other two roughly quarter-acre lots are undeveloped.

The men plan to add a 12-space parking lot behind their existing building, perhaps as soon as this summer. Later they plan to add a 23-space parking lot at the back of the other two lots, and eventually construct a two-story office building fronting Lafayette on each.

The new buildings would be about the same size as their existing office, which they may renovate and link to one of the new structures. They will also add sidewalks.

Woehrle said the growing law firm will likely end up occupying two of the three buildings, with the third to be rented out. He said the timing of the development — which is being called the Franklin Office Park — will depend on the economy.

The Fredericksburg Planning Commission will consider the site plan for the parking at its March 14 meeting.
