One downtown eatery closing, another opening
Downtown Fredericksburg is getting one new eatery but losing another.
Justin and Nicole Cunningham plan to soon open Fizzlebottom’s Cafe at the food counter inside the Made In Virginia Store at 920 Caroline St. Nathan’s hot dogs and Bruster’s ice cream had been sold there previously, but that operation closed last year. The awning outside the store will soon be changed, said Made In Virginia Store co-owner Kathryne Mitchell. She said the new venture will serve soups, sandwiches and other lunch items.
Monday will be the last day, however, for another popular downtown restaurant that has been in business for 10 years. Dan Battista’s Old Town Grill & Cafe at 722 Caroline St. will serve up its last breakfast and lunch offerings that day.
