Virginia Golf Trail gets $25K grant
The Virginia Golf Trail received a $25,000 grant from the Virginia Tourism Corp. to help with marketing, Gov. Bob McDonnell’s office announced today. Cannon Ridge Golf Course in Stafford County is the organization’s headquarters. The trail is a statewide tourism initiative to attract vacationers to Virginia’s golf courses, hotels, restaurants, wineries, theme parks, historic sites and other attractions. It’s patterned after programs such as Alabama’s Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
The Virginia Tourism Corp. announced a total of $635,000 in matching grants to 35 local tourism initiatives, including the golf trail. The local organizations must match the state funds by a minimum of 3-to-1 for marketing.
