BRAC move to Quantico nearly finished

Russell-Knox building

The process of transferring 2,767 BRAC-related jobs to Marine Corps Base Quantico is almost complete. Nearly the last people shifted to the Quantico base as part of the Pentagon’s Base Realignment and Closure Commission 2005 decisions moved to the brand-new 718,000-square-foot Russell-Knox building on Telegraph Road in North Stafford a couple of weeks ago, said John Rosewarne, BRAC coordinator for the Quantico base. Just a a few “rear-party people” still need to move to the new building, which now houses five military investigative agencies: the Defense Intelligence Agency, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Defense Security Service and U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. Plans are in place to widen U.S. 1 near the base and improve the Telegraph Road intersection to handle the increased traffic from the BRAC jobs and surrounding commercial developments.
