Stafford contractor wins $45.5 million Navy contract

A large defense contractor with offices in Stafford County has received a $45.5 million contract from the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Department of Defense announced late Monday afternoon. URS Technical Services Inc. received the time and material contract through the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) program, which strives to protect U.S. forces from enemy attacks by strengthening armored vehicles with blast-resistant underbodies. The contract work will be performed in Stafford, and work is expected to be completed by the end of July 2012. Contract work will involve program management, acquisition, systems engineering, test and evaluation, logistics, safety, quality and administrative support.
