Wells Fargo conversion coming by early fall

All local Wachovia Bank branches will be converted to Wells Fargo by late summer or early fall, said company spokeswoman Kristy Marshall. Wells Fargo, which purchased Wachovia in the height of the U.S. financial crisis in late 2008, has been gradually doing the conversion and switching the branding at branches. The San Francisco-based bank started in states where both Wachovia and Wells Fargo did business. It has also already converted Wachovia’s investment management and mortgage businesses to Wells Fargo. All Wachovia branches in Virginia will be rebranded as Wells Fargo by Sept. 30, Marshall said. Branches in Maryland and D.C. will follow, and the Wachovia name will disappear nationwide by the end of 2011. An exact date will be announced later for the local conversion. Wells Fargo is one of the largest banks in the Fredericksburg region.

Wells Fargo is on the March 14 agenda of the Fredericksburg Architectural Review Board for an application to switch the signs at the downtown Wachovia branch at 614 Princess Anne St. Below are what the changes would look like, according to information Wells Fargo submitted to the Fredericksburg planning department.
