Strong growth in Stafford County pushed fourth-quarter taxable sales in the Fredericksburg region up 4.2 percent over the same period in 2009.
The Fredericksburg region—the city and Caroline, King George, Stafford and Spotsylvania counties—had taxable sales of $837.4 million in the fourth quarter. The numbers include most types of retail sales but not some, such as vehicles.
Stafford’s taxable sales were up 6.9 percent in the fourth quarter over 2009, while the city’s and Spotsylvania’s were up about 3 percent for those months.

Statewise, taxable sales were up 1.4 percent for the fourth quarter and 0.5 percent for all of 2010 compared with the same period the year before.
