Taxable sales in region rise 4.4 percent in third quarter

Taxable sales in the Fredericksburg region rose 4.4 percent in the three months ending Sept. 30, 2010, compared with the third quarter of 2009. Stafford County drove the increase with taxable sales up 9.7 percent during that time. Sales were up about 5 percent in Spotsylvania County, while in Fredericksburg they fell 1 percent.
