Update on Foode’s progress in Fredericksburg

MORE: Read more news from Fredericksburg

I fairly regularly get asked about the progress of Foode, an eatery and market coming soon to 1006C and 1006D Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg. Today I went down to chat with the owners, Joy Crump and Beth Black, on how things are going. The pair are making progress in transforming the space into a kitchen, market and restaurant. They’ve passed a couple of inspections but still have more to go. They’ve had to delay the opening date a couple of times, so they no longer want to give out a specific date. But they’re hoping it’s soon. They recently put a sample menu outside the courtyard entrance. Crump sent me a copy, which you can look at here, but she said it will likely change somewhat. Still, it gives you some idea about the type of cuisine they’ll be bringing to Fredericksburg. Click here to read more on Foode (which is pronounced “foodie”).

As Black and Crump continued to ready Foode for opening, work was also going on today to install a new awning and sign at the nearby Otter House restaurant and bar at 1005 Princess Anne St. A photo is included below along with a shot of another new downtown awning, this one at The Made in Virginia Store at 907 Caroline St.
