Science and technology center announced for North Stafford

A science and technology center that would train and educate both the high-tech area workforce and local residents is in the works for North Stafford. Plans for the center, which would also have a research component, were officially announced this morning during a symposium for Stafford defense contractors held at MTCSC’s office in the Quantico Corporate Center. 

Representatives from George Mason University, the University of Mary Washington, Germanna Community College and MTCSC officially signed a memorandum of understanding to partner with Stafford County on the center, whose focus would be math and science. Stafford high school students might someday be able to take classes through the center.

UMW is now building a graduate campus with a similar model near the Dahlgren naval base in King George County. Plans for the Stafford center are for now less concrete, and there is no physical location. Organizers will now start moving the Stafford center from a vision to a reality. They hope to eventually have a separate facility for the center, perhaps at the Quantico Corporate Center (which is being developed by the Silver Cos. and is pictured with this post).
