Local Ukrop’s store to close Jan. 30
The Ukrop’s grocery store in Spotsylvania County will close for good at the end of the day Jan. 30, said store general manager Rodney Person. That’s a Saturday, and Ukrop’s has always been closed Sundays.
The First Market Bank branch inside the store will stay open until March 22.
Ukrop’s announced last month that the Spotsylvania store would close. Giant-Carlisle, a division of Ahold USA, is purchasing Ukrop’s Super Markets in a deal valued at $140 million, but the local store wasn’t included (Giant already has several stores in that area). Ukrop’s has a lease that runs into 2017 at the store off State Route 3, which opened in 1997.
