hhgregg coming to Fredericksburg
It’s official: hhgregg is coming to Fredericksburg.
We have been reporting for more than a month that the Indianapolis-based appliance and electronics company is planning a store at the former Circuit City location in Fredericksburg’s Central Park. The 33,000-square-foot space has been vacant since Circuit City liquidated its inventory and closed earlier this year. hhgregg has been aggressively targeting former Circuit City locations for its expansion plans in the mid-Atlantic region. It recently opened two stores in Richmond and plans additional locations in Hampton Roads.
Until today we hadn’t gotten any official confirmation, although the company had filed its plans with Fredericksburg’s Building and Development Services department. I just got an e-mail from Thalhimer/Cushman & Wakefield Alliance, which brokered the lease for landlord Kimco Realty Corp., announcing the lease.
hhgregg’s plans call for a revamped exterior and minor changes to the inside of the former Circuit City building. There are spaces for appliances, mattresses, TVs and an assortment of electronic products.
No word yet on an opening date.
