Cox raises cable rates

Cox Communications recently raised cable rates in Fredericksburg by $3 for customers with basic or expanded service. There were also some additional charges on equipment and services, according to Cox spokeswoman Gwen Sparks. The rate changed April 15.

Sparks said the rate increase was due to Cox adding 69 new channels, including 40 high definition offerings, in the past 18 months. She said it was "an unavoidable result of our rising business costs."

"We try hard to keep cable prices as low as possible, but we can’t absorb the full amount of the increased prices we pay for cable networks and other costs," Sparks said.
