We were warned, but was anyone listening?
YEARS before the housing bubble hit its peak, John Cassidy laid out nearly exactly what the ensuing collapse would look like.
Cassidy provided the blueprint in a Nov. 11, 2002, article in The New Yorker titled "The Next Crash." The article is reprinted in a new book titled "Panic! The Story of Modern Financial Insanity." It was edited and compiled by Michael Lewis.
Among Lewis’ previous books are the excellent "Liar’s Poker" and "Moneyball." In "Panic," he compiles more than 50 pieces of journalism written during the various financial panics of the past 25 years.
