Atlanta company acquires PermaTreat
Fredericksburg-based PermaTreat Pest Control, a mainstay business in the city, is being acquired by Atlanta’s Rollins Inc.
The acquisition was completed Friday through a stock merger of PermaTreat’s parent, Wilco Enterprises Inc.
Owner and CEO Joe Wilson said that though Rollins now owns the entirety of Wilco stock, operations will remain the same at each of the company’s eight branches.
Details of the merger were not disclosed.
He will stay on as head of PermaTreat through the next year and slowly manage less until he retires.
“Management, employees, that won’t change,” he said. “It’s still the same uniform, the same service.”
Wilson also said PermaTreat will continue its community involvement projects.
Wilson, 70, said it’s time for him to slow down and check off a few items from his bucket list, which will include fishing and spending time with family. He also said not to expect him on the golf course with other retirees. He said he’s not the type to golf because “I will never be able to hit a golf ball.”
Wilson, a 50-year pest control industry worker, was actually a Rollins employee for 18 years beginning in 1965, when he worked for Orkin.
He purchased PermaTreat in 1982.
Since then the company has grown from six employees to about 125, and added seven new locations.
PermaTreat serves much of northern and central Virginia.
Georgia-based Rollins also owns and operates Orkin LLC, HomeTeam Pest Defense, Western Pest Services, The Industrial Fumigant Company, Waltham Services LLC, Crane Pest Control, Trutech LLC and Rollins Australia.
