Celebrate Va. North public hearing set
Plans for an expanded law-enforcement training facility and up to 672 apartments at Celebrate Virginia North will be before Stafford County’s Planning Commission for a public hearing on Sept. 19.
Celebrate Virginia developer the Silver Cos. is seeking various approvals from Stafford that would allow the plans to proceed. Silver officials believe the additions would accelerate development at the complex off U.S. 17 and help nearby retail centers, which are facing high vacancies, get tenants.
Delmarva Contracting Inc., which owns a 50,000-square-foot industrial building at Celebrate Virginia North, wants to buy 25 to 30 adjacent acres to add two more 50,000-square-foot buildings in the area and 192 apartments with recreational amenities where trainees could stay for months. Silver officials say training wouldn’t involve gunfire.
Silver is also seeking approval for up to 480 apartments at the southern portion of Celebrate Virginia North where a golf course was once envisioned. One course—Cannon Ridge—is open there, and space would remain for a future second course. Silver officials have spoken with Johnson Development Associates, which is developing the Haven apartments at Silver developments in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County, about someday building at Celebrate Virginia North.
