Downtown businesses merging into Forage
Two clothing stores in downtown Fredericksburg are merging to form a new venture.
The owners of Beaucoup Vintage and Madeline Ruth recently announced they will join forces to start a new business called Forage.
Forage will open Oct. 6 at the home of Beaucoup Vintage at 208 William St. Madeline Ruth’s inventory will move to the new space.
Beaucoup Vintage focuses on vintage clothing, while Madeline Ruth does consignment of women’s clothing and fashion accessories. The name Forage was chosen to capture the hunting spirit of shopping for vintage and consignment clothes.
Megan Parry, who owns Beaucoup Vintage, said the two stores share many of the same customers, so combining forces made sense. She met Madeline Ruth’s owner, Alicia Austin Morgan, when the pair were both students at the University of Mary Washington.
Alica Austin Morgan plans to keep the lease on Madeline Ruth’s current space at 610 Caroline St. and open a new venture there later this year. She hasn’t revealed details about what the new business will entail.
