Amelia Square construction begins this week
Construction will start this week on the first phase of Amelia Square, the townhomes to be built between William and Amelia streets in downtown Fredericksburg.
At Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, Amelia Square developer the Silver Cos. received the final approval needed to build.
There will be 20 townhomes built in four phases. They will be three- and four-story buildings with three and four bedrooms, elevators, enclosed garages, balconies and covered porches with outdoor fireplaces, and will range from 2,453 to 4,670 square feet.
The four units for the first phase, which will be at the corner of Amelia and Winchester streets, have been sold and are expected to be completed by March, according to a press release from Silver.
The site plan shows eight townhouses along Winchester, six along Amelia and six that are parallel to the Amelia units and closer to William. Silver is courting users for a roughly 10,000- square-foot multi-tenant commercial building along William.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Keith Oster, vice president of Prime Design Engineering, the firm working on the project for Silver, said that building of the second, third and fourth phases will be based on the pace of sales.
The homes are being built by Simply Home LLC and being sold by Coldwell Banker Elite agents.
