Work starting on new hotel

Demolition work is expected to begin next week for the planned Hyatt Place hotel at Fredericksburg’s Eagle Village mixed-use complex off U.S. 1.

The vacant retail space between the Giant store and the main road running into Eagle Village will be demolished for the five-story, 66,500-square-foot hotel.

The University of Mary Washington Foundation owns the planned 93-room hotel and the rest of Eagle Village.
