Grab a pint, and let’s talk local beer

Welcome to Brews in the ‘Burg, a new fredericksburg.com blog where we’ll share news about our region’s growing craft-beer industry. Grab a pint, sit down and relax. We are talking about beer after all, right?

Over the past few years, craft beer has become an economic driver in Virginia. A study released by the Brewers Association showed that in 2012 $622 million was generated from this growing industry.

Studies like this one, and the fact that breweries are popping up all over the region, are precisely why we wanted to write about craft beer.

In this blog you’ll find behind-the-scenes peeks at local breweries, news, recipes, interviews and local happenings in the craft beer world. We’d love to hear from you about what your favorite beers are, what homebrew clubs are talking about, and what you think is important.

This week has been an exciting one for craft beer in the region.

Rusty Beaver Brewery in Caroline announced expansion plans that will take them to Spotsylvania County. Beer Hound Brewery is planning to move from Seminole Park Plaza in Barboursville to downtown Culpeper in early to mid-June.

Cheers!
